About us

eLumen was started by academics at the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system (known as MnSCU).

Their shared mission? To find a better way to track individual student learning outcomes and competency attainment.

Our history

The start of eLumen

The concept for a powerful, learning-focused assessment solution emerges at the University of Minnesota in the 1990s.

2003

eLumen, then known as the eLumen Collaborative, is founded by academics with a common goal: To change the way student progress is measured during the student’s academic career.

2012

eLumen is relaunched as a venture-backed software corporation. Thanks to an angel investor, the company was able to develop and market the eLumen solution.

2022

The Connect Consortium (TCC) is officially launched, allowing eLumen's partner colleges to actively participate in the software development process.

Today

Today, eLumen continues to learn and grow with our college and university partners.

Our people

Staying true to our roots, we continue to hire former college administrators and staff in many of our roles, including those focused on customer success.  So, what does this mean for you?

At eLumen, we know faculty. We are post-secondary educators and innovators fixing the real problems that higher education institutions are facing today.

Our community

Our client institutions are actively involved in evolving the eLumen platform. We work directly with our users through The Connect Consortium (TCC), our community-based approach to software development. TCC is comprised of eLumen users who collaborate with each other and our product team to identify future strategic product improvements. eLumen is a software partner that grows with you.
